I LOVE this idea! Jiminy Cricket said “Always let your conscience be your guide”. What if I change that to “Always let your heart be your guide”?
It seems like it would be easy, natural and flowing to let your heart guide you. And in some instances, it is. But there’s always room to expand.
The first step to creating something new in your life is DESIRE. Without desire there’s resistance or disinterest to change. That can hold you back. When you have the desire to change you’re already on your way and in the flow of moving forward.
When you want to grow, practice or learn something new in your life, the next step is AWARENESS. Awareness in this case would be to start observing yourself when you’re making decisions and ask yourself, “am I making this choice from my head or from my heart”? Start paying attention to the answers you get and how your body feels.
Once you’re aware of your habits you can begin to CONSCIOUSLY MAKE THE CHANGES you desire. You can gradually make more and more choices from your heart.
I know when nature makes changes, like the leaves changing colors in the fall, it’s very gradual. You only see subtle changes. But over time you see a big change and by November the colors are spectacular.
I’m comfortable with gradual change like nature, but some people like to move quicker. You can just follow your own pace.
One practice that I’ve started recently to help myself connect more with my heart is to sit quietly with one hand on my heart and the other hand on my solar plexus. The solar plexus is on the upper part of the belly, where your diaphragm rests. You can close your eyes, take some deep breaths and see what comes up for you. See if you can feel what your heart is trying to tell you.
If nothing comes up, no worries. You can do it again as often as you like.
I always like to remind you, everything is a practice. Keep practicing and you’ll definitely notice improvement.
Much love to all of you as you practice opening up your heart.
Sending big hugs,
