I was having a conversation with a dear friend the other day. He’s also a life coach. We were talking about making coaching videos and he expressed that he doesn’t know what he would say or share on a video. I was taken back.
For many years we’ve shared ideas and practices that have helped us both grow and expand who we are. He has infinite wisdom and I was truly surprised to hear that he had some self-doubt. Then of course, I became aware that he was mirroring back to me my self-doubt!
Is there a place in your life where you’re doubting yourself? Is there something you want to do or try but you have a lack of confidence in yourself?
I can tell you for sure, you’re not alone. We’ve all had that feeling! We all have beliefs about ourselves that aren’t true.
What do you do when you come up against your own beliefs? How can you turn them around and create a new set of beliefs and a new reality for yourself?
The first step to shifting anything is awareness. Once you bring it to your consciousness you can begin to break through the beliefs.
It’s also important to know that we create what’s in our minds. If thoughts of self-doubt are accompanying you everywhere, it’s time to address them. It’s funny how this works but if you embrace these thoughts (once you’re aware of them) you will see how you know that they aren’t true! It’s like the Wizard of Oz. . . .Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow all had thoughts about themselves that weren’t true!
Once you know that the things you doubt about yourself aren’t really true, you can look at things differently. You can shift your mindset to what is true for you. You can break through your limitations
And then there is letting go of other people’s opinions of you. Although that’s a simple concept, it can be challenging to implement. Once you take ownership of your own beliefs, it can be so freeing!
As Charlie Chaplin said, “You have to believe in yourself. That’s the secret.”
As you continue to break through the concepts of yourself, you can check-in and ask yourself some questions. Am I taking responsibility for the thoughts I’m having about myself? Am I being my confident self?
Just notice when you have any thoughts that are contributing to your self-doubt. Ask yourself if this is an outdated thought and shift into your new confidence.
Don’t let your self-doubt hold you back anymore. You can now recognize that you have new thoughts and fit them into the new you as you move forward with confidence.
