I love the subject of MIRACLES!
When speaking of miracles, I usually call them “small miracles”. I use the term small miracles, not because I consider the miracles small, but because back in the 90’s I read a series of books called “Small Miracles”. They are short stories about “Extraordinary Coincidences from Everyday Life”. I’ve always been fascinated by this subject.
Recently I set my intention to consciously pay attention to the miracles that are showing up in my life and it’s been fun. It’s making feel very excited. I’ve come to realize how often they’re really happening, I just wasn’t acknowledging all of them because I thought it had to be an OMG to be a miracle.
The word miracle can bring up a couple of things in us. First, it can bring up a really good feeling of excitement and awe. Then, it can also bring up the opposite feeling because sometimes we asked for a miracle and it didn’t happen.
I know, although it’s not always easy, the more you can trust the miracles that are happening, no matter how they show up for you, the more you will align with attracting more miracles. Even though I know that, I realize it takes practice to trust and know that we always get what we need, not necessarily what we think we want. : – ))
I can think of a few examples in my life where I really wanted something and it didn’t work out. Then, at a later date I was so grateful it didn’t happen the way I wanted, but it did work out the way I needed it to! That’s what I’m talking about and it’s another way miracles can show up in your life. So if it looks like things are not working out, hang in there. You might see how it IS working out soon.
Some examples of miracles that are happening that we might not even be aware of would be if we’re in a hurry and get stopped by a train. We may never know for sure, but the train that made us a little late could have kept us from an accident that might have occurred. That’s where the trust comes in.
Another way for miracles to occur that we’re not always aware of, is that we might have done something, or said something or showed up for someone else at just the exact right moment, the exact way they needed, and in this scenario we were a miracle that showed up for someone else.
Last week I created a little game for myself where each day I go on a treasure hunt for miracles. I consciously pay attention to the amazing things that are happening all day.
I’ll give you an example. I was traveling and checking in at the airport. I was at the self-check-in and needed to insert my credit card to pay for luggage. I intended to use a specific credit card and I realized right after I inserted it that I had grabbed the wrong card. Guess what? I had inserted the card the wrong way and had to do it again which gave me the opportunity to use the card I wanted. Being that I was on my treasure hunt, I realized immediately that I just experienced a miracle. I was doing a happy dance in my head.
Another example is, I had company for dinner over the weekend. I wanted to serve vanilla ice-cream with warm brownies for dessert. It was about 3:00 p.m. when I decided this. I didn’t think I had ice cream in my freezer and I really didn’t want to go to the store. I knew it would be busy on a Sunday afternoon. Then I decided, I’ll just go and it’ll be fine. I adjusted my attitude and I was willing to go. Right before I left, I thought, let me just double check the freezer. . . and guess what? Yup! There was a brand new container of vanilla ice cream in there! I had forgotten. I did another happy dance! I felt like that was two miracles. One that something made me double check the freezer even though I thought I didn’t have any vanilla ice cream. And two, that I had a brand new container of it!
I can’t even wrap my brain around all the things it takes to orchestrate a miracle, no matter how big or small!
I know I keep talking about “living consciously” and maybe the words are not connecting with you, or you don’t see how it can benefit you. I would like to share with you that living your life consciously and intentionally is the vehicle that leads us to the things we most want to create in our lives.
Of course you can life your life unconsciously and good things can still happen. But when you begin to live your life consciously, you will notice it comes more natural to be in a state of peace and joy.
If this sounds fun to you, set an intention to consciously pay attention to the miracles in your life. Be careful not to get distracted by only looking for the OMG miracles. Miracles come in all shapes and sizes.
